Patient/Family Liaison, Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT
Having a family member undergo an operation can be scary. That's why Mary's warm welcomes and dedication to keeping families updated on progress are so critical to her hospital. And we love her favorite saying, "If you want a smile, come see me."
For years, Mary has welcomed family members in operating room waiting areas with a simple greeting: “Good morning, my name is Mary, and I’m going to take great care of you while the medical staff takes great care of your patient.”
Mary ensures family members stay updated on their loved ones’ progress by tracking up to 100 surgeries per day. During some of the most nerve-wracking times in the lives of patients and their families, Mary seeks to provide them peace of mind. In stressful times, she has another favorite saying: “If you want a smile, come see me.”
Mary never expected her daughter's illness to lead her on a new career path to patient care. Read Mary's Story
